It’s going to be a rainy weekend, and I’m daydreaming about how I may spend it. So many possibilities…
I’ve been thinking about writing a new polymer clay tutorial – button-making for the absolute beginner. It will be a little how-to for those of you who may never have picked up a lump of clay before, or who have dabbled, but don’t have a room full of tools and supplies dedicated to the craft.
So, I could work on that.
I’ve also had a new wrap skirt project calling my name. Last week I came across a nice chunk of Anna Maria Horner’s Garden Party fabric that I forgot I bought. It would be perfect for a skirt, and we all know I don’t have enough of those…
Speaking of sewing clothes for myself, I recently acquired a copy of Chic & Simple Sewing, and I am super excited about making myself a dress. Or, ooh! the rain jacket! Totally can’t wait to try those things.
I may also spend the weekend with my nose in my copy of Handmade Home. What I’ve read so far has totally been worth the anticipation.
By the way, I’m seriously thinking I might like to learn to crochet. Because, just like I need another skirt in my closet, I also need another creative hobby in my life. Right.
Oh, and thank you, those of you gave me some tomato guidance yesterday. Sauce-making sounds like another great weekend activity.

You know, really, it’s not like I’d need a whole new batch of supplies, or anything, aside from a few hooks, right? It’s getting easier and easier to justify 😉

I’m curious as to why you’d want to crochet when you resist knitting (the real way, I mean, not with looms); neither one is really an instant-gratification sort of craft unless you stick to really small things.
Anyway, I’m a fan of both, of course. 🙂
Well, I could be wrong (or course) but I feel like there are certain lacey looks that you can get with crochet, that you can’t really get with knitting. I’m thinking mostly of small, embellishment-type things.
And I still may learn to knit with needles one of these days 🙂
You can knit lace, but yes, when it comes to small decorative things, I tend to go for the crochet hook. I learned to crochet as a kid, too (I was maybe seven or eight — young enough that I can’t remember the learning process too clearly; it just feels like something I’ve always known how to do), and even though I can knit now, crochet will always be my first love.
I’ve been crocheting since I was eight. I have done more crochet this summer than sewing.
It’s the bees’ knees.

One of my grandmothers tried to teach me to crochet. The other grandmother tried to teach me to knit, but I no longer remember which knew how to do which craft. It doesn’t really matter because neither one stuck with me, LOL!
