Swatches

Must choose a color

We’re getting our house painted.  Yay!  Poor thing really needs it.  And now we have a choice to make.  We conducted an informal four-person survey amongst ourselves and the results were inconclusive.

I had asked the painter to come over with five samples.  He only brought four, and one of them wasn’t even on my list.  So, I got three that I asked for & one that I didn’t, and we’re missing two that I wanted to see. Oops.

Thing is, when we look at these four colors, we seem to find ourselves leaning toward the one he brought accidentally. Why am I not surprised?

I kind of like this look

Truth be told, I kind of like this look.  I think it says “somebody artsy lives here.”  Neil thinks it says “somebody cleaned off his paint brush here.”  Hmmm.  Just one more decorative element I will have to save for my imaginary house, along with painted wood furniture, cheery curtains, skylights, and aqua-colored walls.

So nice to have a place to put these lovely husband-rejected things 😀

  1. I like the upper left number 1 and lower left second. I am sure this is really helpful for you isn’t it? *g* Though I also like the slight brush work in the second pic too.

    1. Upper left is what we were thinking, actually. Most of us like lower right best, but think it might show any future dirt too easily. I’m thinking of having them come back and put up the other two colors.

  2. Okay, I found the picture of the house… what about the green with the dark blue shutters? I think that would be cute.

    1. I do too. Frankly, I could see any of those colors working!

  4. I love the green – maybe with the lower left (cream?) as trim???

    1. That sounds nice. My favorite is the lower right, with a deep eggplant color as trim. Can’t sell that one to the Mr. though.

  5. I kind of lean toward the green, too, but don’t trust my word-I love green! If I had my way, 90% of everything would be green.

    1. I know what you mean. Half of the rooms in my house are some shade of green or another! I’m leaning in a more blue direction for the exterior, though. What I’d really love is a greenish-aqua with black shutters, but that idea went over like a lead balloon with my other half, LOL!

  6. i like the green in the lower right. it’s cheery without being as bland as beige. i couldn’t tell which color was used for the artsy look. but i agree with your husband, it does look like someone cleaned their paintbrush there.

    good luck with your decision!

    1. I’m with you on the lower right. It’s my favorite.

And the artsy look? It really *was* somebody cleaning their paintbrush! It wasn’t meant to be an option – I just thought it looked neat. I was only kidding about doing the whole house that way. It would probably be a bit much 😀

  7. ohhh, tough choice.
    I like them all!
