First lily of the season

Happy Monday and Happy June! My lilies started blooming over the weekend, which is always a nice event.

I realized I haven’t made anything to show you in over a week, and I’m going to get right on that sometime in the next few days.  In the meantime, though, I thought I’d fill you in on the little tweakings and such that I did with the blog this weekend.

First is the menu bar at the top of the screen.  I changed it around, re-worded some options and added others.  I hope it’s more intuitive now to get where you might want to go.  Check it out, and please leave me any feedback you might have, particularly if something is confusing.

Additionally, I created a button for the blog.  If any of you who follow me would like to take it for your own blogs, you are welcome to do so.  You’ll find it on the right sidebar.

Also on the right sidebar, you may notice the Farmers’ Market Summer button.  I set out on Sunday morning to fill my personal calendar with the dates of my most local farmers’ markets (tis the season, you know!) as well as those near my parents’ house, in case I was in dire need of some radishes while visiting the folks (hey, it could happen!) and it occurred to me that it wouldn’t take that much more time to just put all of the markets in all of the northern counties of New Jersey on their own calendars and make them public.  Maybe some of you who live around here would find that useful?  I hope so.  Feel free to pass the link on to your local friends, too.  It took a little bit longer than I’d expected, actually, and I’d hate for the effort to have been in vain!  Check it out:  Jersey Fresh for the Summer

The last thing I did was go through my blogroll and prune it a bit.  With all of the book-reading I plan to do this summer (and have already started) it’s getting harder to find time for all of the blogs I like to read.  So, I’m cutting back a bit for the season.  As always, it’s an ever-evolving list, and if you’re looking for something good to read, I encourage you to pop on over to the right sidebar, peruse my list, and see if there’s anything new there to grab you.

And now I must be off to get some work done.  If I want time to make things this week, I need to get a few necessary jobs done first!  How uncharacteristically responsible of me, eh?

  1. Lucky girl! My lilies won’t be blooming for another month or so. Must be warmer down there than it is up here in Vancouver! Like the tweaking you’ve done here. Nice and clear, especially with the buttons at the top!

    1. I didn’t expect the lilies for another few weeks, but it’s entirely possible my memory for these things is faulty.

Glad to hear the new menu options are an improvement!

  2. Wow…….that is a beautiful flower! Just lovely:)
