Living in a loomy bin

Positively loomy

Did you think I meant to write LOONY?  Well, we’re plenty loony around here, but actually, these last few days we’ve also been plenty LOOMY.

More mitts

While I’ve been cranking out fingerless mitts on my little blue knifty knitter, certain other people have been using the rest of the set as crowns, collars, swords, and chainsaw hands.

Loomy behavior

My things, no matter how traditionally feminine they may be, are rarely safe from being repurposed as a prop in some imaginative game that is all boy.  This is just the way things are.  This is my lot in life.  This is what I must deal with, being the only girl in a house full of boys.

I only have one thing to say to that:

Queen of the Loom People

“It’s good to be Queen.”

  1. New blog post: Living in a loomy bin http://tinyurl.com/6b7jmq

  2. Your mitts just keep getting better. I need to make myself a pair (or two)! And thanks for the laugh over the repurposed looms. (g)

See what Michael has been blogging about: Handmade Texture Tools

    1. Thanks! Each time I make a pair, I figure out some way to improve them. Which basically means, everyone I make them for will have a nice pair, and mine are falling apart, LOL!

  3. Oh like you don’t LOVE IT;)

    1. Oh, ok, you got me.

I must have always enjoyed being outnumbered by boys – it would explain why I went into computer science 😀

  4. I love it when you make me laugh! The look on N’s face is quite comical! And your’s is priceless!

    1. Heh. Thanks. I’m just glad they’re playing with knitting looms and not something more scary, like my underwear or something.

  5. i love the new ones. very nice. practice does make …..better!! at least you can go with the flow with the boys.

  6. I still say you need to learn to knit with actual needles…then the options are unlimited!

On a totally unrelated subject, thanks for sharing all the pie-crust links recently. I’ve never been all that happy with the crust in my apple pie recipe (though the rest of the pie is awesome), so Ray and I just made up a batch of this tonight; we’ll chill it overnight and make the pie tomorrow. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

  7. That last picture is perfect. It really needs to be an icon or blog header!

  8. Heehee – I love those looms – they are the perfect thing for keeping my hands busy while I’m watching the kid’s hockey games. (DS is the goalie -it’s mighty nerve-wracking for a mom!)

And that sooooo looks like something my kids and hubby would do, if they ever got into the vintage suitcase full of the looms!
