School’s out!

Went to my last MOMS Club meeting as “website coordinator” today, handed the reigns over to someone new, went with Eamonn to our favorite bagel place to grab some lunch, picked up Aidan from his last day of school, wandered a few towns over to check out the first Farmers Market of the season, bought cherries and a cucumber there, and came home to find my new shoes had arrived. (And somewhere in there I managed to also pack up 1/3 of the orders I needed to pack up today, and missed the mail pickup. Darnit! I will definitely have those packages out tomorrow. Definitely. I prooooomise)

One Object 365 Days: 170/365 06/18/08

So, my shoes. They’re red leather Born mary janes, and I love them! I tend to notice cool shoes on flickr a lot, and so often they are Born. I’ve always been one to buy shoes on the cheap (like, $15 or less) and I’ve generally been happy with one black pair, one brown pair, a black pair for dressy occasions, a pair of neutral-colored sandals, and a pile of cheap flip-flops to fill in the gaps. Thing is, ever since I started photographing my feet every day for Project 365, I’ve been really conscious of how, uh, boring I can be in the footwear department.

So in an effort to shake things up a bit, I’ve gotten some chinese kung fu shoes on eBay (an orange pair and a yellow pair), and some sea green flip-flops from Old Navy. Still really casual, still really cheap.

These new mary janes? $10 on eBay. When I looked online and saw that the average price of a pair of Borns is around $90, I felt even better about my little splurge. These aren’t brand new, but I can live with that. The only drawback, of course, is that now I feel tempted to wander around eBay some more and see what other cool footwear I can uncover.

Must. Resist.

In other news, school is out! Bring on the kiddie pool and the day trips! Woo hoo!

  1. The shoes! They are so pretty. And what a steal at $10.

  2. Cute! I love Born shoes. They’re so comfy and last forever.

  3. So cute! I love them. You are certainly not boring in the footwear department, I wear the same pair of shoes to work Monday – Thursday and then when I am home on the weekends, its either sneakers or flip flops. I’ve had all three pairs for years. So, if nothing else, you are less boring than I!
