You remember the canes I made last week? Well, a few days ago I made some buttons out of them, and today I stitched up an apron. I’ve had this patchwork design in my head for a while, cut up the fabric last week, and finally got a few minutes to put it all together.
I’m really pleased with it, although it’s waaaay too pink for me. I’m not a pink girl at all. This apron is going to my grandmother as a belated Christmas gift. There was a mixup at Christmas, when I couldn’t find her gift, nor could I remember what it was. By the time I remembered that it had been a fruit basket, the fruit was over the hill . So I made her an apron, which was what I had been planning to do all along until lack of time forced me to abandon the idea. Funny how things work out. I really like this and hope I get time to finish up the version I have in the works for myself soon.
I also made a child-size apron today – no patchwork and no linen, for one of Eamonn’s classmates. He’s been invited to a 5th birthday party on Friday, and when I heard there was a “cooking” theme, well, the gift was a no-brainer! Hope she likes it. I tried to get Eamonn to model it for me, but he insisted he didn’t want to be mistaken for a girl. I guess the days of using him to measure gifts for little girls are coming to an end…
Oh My! I love that apron Lisa!!! I am still completely in love with the Flea Market Fancy fabric. It’s great!
Thanks! I can’t wait to try making a few more in other fabrics, too! I have to get better at cutting linen, though – it’s so stretchy, I can’t seem to cut a straight line.
CUTE! I love that Flea Market Fancy collection too. I want some of it in pink now.
I’m not a huge fan of pink, but I really like it in this fabric – I think it looks nice with the orange.
what a great gift for a little girl – I bet she will love it!
I’m not used to making girly things, so this was fun!
Your grandma will love it!
Thanks, I hope so!
I hope Granny loves it. I find it so hard to get gifts for her – I mean, what does she need after all? By the way, I *am* pinky, so feel free to throw pink my way any time :).
I always end up getting her a sweater, candles, or soap. No idea why. I do remember, years ago, she always wore aprons. I don’t know if she still does, but hopefully she’ll like it anyway.
[…] managed to finish up my new apron. This is the same style as the last one I made, but I used the Susan Branch fabric that matches my kitchen napkins. And my navy blue […]
I’m not a fan of aprons OR pink but I really, really like this! The button is just perfect with it. You’re so prolific! Have fun at the Clayathon!
Thanks, Kim! Nice to see you 🙂
