The gift-making bonanza begins

I worked on Christmas gifts today. I’d love to show them to you (and hope that the recipients aren’t peeking in here today), but I’m not feeling as wordy as usual. How about I show you what I’ve done, with minimal explanation, and if you have any questions, you can ask me? Also, I gave details re: fabric choices and the like on flickr already, so you can always click on an image if you wish to know those things.

New table runner

A table runner for Mom. Please don’t let this be the one day in six months that she checks in here.

New table runner

When I set the runner down on the floor to photograph it, two little boys came running to jump over it, hide under it, throw it at each other, and find other inventive uses for it. I’ve decided they need their own play blankets. Add one more project to the “Do Before Christmas” list.

New scarf New scarf New scarf

A trio of scarves for Eamonn’s trio of teachers. It’s more than I usually give for a teacher gift, but we’ve known two of those teachers since Aidan was in preschool and this is our last year there. It just seemed like a nice thing to do. And I had a lot of the more boring parts already done, so that helped icon_wink-flickr-6-3

Ironing board makeover

My hand-me-down tabletop ironing board was getting kind of icky. The fabric on top started flaking off today. I’ve never seen fabric do that before. So I covered it. At the moment, it’s only stuck on there with packing tape, but as soon as I figure out how to make it more permanent, I will icon_biggrin-flickr-7

Now I must decide whether I am going to spend the rest of the evening stocking shelves (those items have to be put away before we can properly decorate for Christmas, otherwise, I’d leave that job until next week) or watching some mindless TV until I become a drooling zombie. Tough choice.

  2. […] to make last-minute lap blankets for the boys (an idea I came up with after they spent an afternoon playing with a table runner…). And I also bought some crushed velvetesque stuff to make myself a Christmas shirt. I would […]
