Lisa takes a trip

As you can see, I’m relaxing in my fuzzy flip-flops

I’m in Philadelphia for a class, and I had originally planned on blogging a bit about the class and sharing some images of the things I’d made so far. As it turns out, most of our time today was spent observing, and the only hands-on clay time we had was more of a “practice.” So, no pictures to share.

At least, no pictures of claythings. How about hotel pictures?

For starters, check out this bed! I don’t know if you can tell from the photo, but it’s really tall! I’m way up in the air on a soft fluffy cloud

Ok, that’s enough of the hotel pictures – that could get pretty boring pretty fast. Suffice it to say, this is a great room for what I am paying. I am definitely staying at a Hampton Inn again.

I ate well tonight… I usually have a regular burger, small fries and a small coke when I get fast food – it’s pretty much the lowest-calorie choice there is without going the salad route. And personally, I don’t see the point of going to McDonald’s if you’re just going to eat lettuce… Anyway, tonight I splurged on a shake (they still have the minty Shrek ones – yum!) and a crispy chicken sandwich.

I like being on my own once in a while to do my own thing – like shop in a craft store or book store (or both!) at a leisurely pace. But I do miss the guys at home a bit. I spoke to them earlier and Neil told me a story about their adventures this morning. It’s a good thing I wasn’t there – I’d have wrung his little neck…

I’m really looking forward to getting back to class tomorrow. I am seeing how these beautiful beads come together, and I’m eager to try it myself, with my own shapes and my own veneers. It strikes me that this is a technique that is going to look different for every person in the class, and that’s the beauty of it.
