Knitting

I learned to knit in 2009, my first project being a pair of fingerless gloves worked on double-pointed needles. Nobody told me that DPNs were supposed to be difficult, and so I jumped right in and learned.

Don’t let anyone tell you a particular technique is supposed to be hard! Polka Dot Cottage knitting patterns and tutorials are all suitable for those who are at the beginning of their knitting experience (but perfectly enjoyable for those who have been knitting for a long time). Each pattern lists the techniques you need to know before beginning, and some patterns include step-by-step tutorials to help you with the techniques you may not know.

I write nearly all of my knitting patterns after I have designed something new for myself, or for a gift. Consequently, you won’t find anything fussy or precious among these patterns. Everything here is meant to be worn and loved! This is especially true of the sweaters. I wear the daylights out of my Polka Dot Cottage sweaters every winter. And fall. And spring.
