Polka Dot Cottage: Mary janes, bibs, and ultra sleep shorts

Mary janes, bibs, and ultra sleep shorts

It was a rainy summer day yesterday – the first really all-day heavy-rain kind of day we’ve had in a while. The kids had an activity in the morning that I had to drive them to and we all got pretty wet getting there. Then I got wet getting myself back. I quickly realized that it was just too chilly for capri pants and sandals, despite the fact that it is an unwritten rule for me never to trap my toes in socks and shoes during the summer. So, I changed into long pants and got a little stripey in my eBay-acquired maryjanes Smile

Today I did a little fabric shopping so that I could try again to make a better version of that shirt I didn’t like. I came home with another design in the Freshcut line, and while I haven’t used it yet to make the new shirt, I did manage to whip out three reversible bibs. Don’t they just make you wish you had a sweet little neck to stick them around?! I love ‘em. I got the instructions out of Amy Karol‘s Bend the Rules Sewing. The top one was the first one I made and it has some issues, both with the stitching and with the snap, so that’s my “practice bib.” The other two are going to a friend of mine who just had a baby. They are so easy to make, and I just want to crank out a pile of them! I wish I’d known how to do this 7 or 4 years ago when I needed a pile of bibs.

I also made some sleep shorts out of that ugly ultraman fabric. The little people like ‘em, and that’s what counts.

So, how did I manage to get so much sewing done today, you ask? Well, I decided it might be a good idea to reset my computer battery. I was down to 15 minutes of juice each time I used it, and I had heard that you could drain a battery completely, until it’s dead as a doornail, re-charge it, and the capacity meter would reset. So I drained it, and plugged it in for a few hours to recharge untouched. This is where I got that sewing done… Unfortunately, when I tested my battery, I had even less capacity than before! I’m down to about 3 minutes, which isn’t even enough to boot up completely. Very frustrating. Thank goodness I have three power cords around the house and can just plug in most places I need to be Smile

It’s 5:00. Anybody want to come over and make supper?
