TWiP: So Autumnal

I got a new camera during the first week of October, and it got such a workout last month! It’s helpful that October is so beautiful around here, and it also is helpful to have a lot of plans to go places and do things. October was busier than usual in that way, and pretty much perfect timing!

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the photos I shot for Project 365 (the occasional when-I-feel-like-it theme for 2017 is “words”), plus some snapshots I posted on Instagram during the previous week.

Ready? Cast your mind back to this time last week…

Saturday

Instagram πŸ“·: When you’re hanging around by an old pine-needle-covered fireplace in the woods, and you find a baby chillin in a basket. [Taken at Speedwell Park, Morristown, NJ.]

Instagram πŸ“·: I made a rainbow in the Great Swamp today πŸπŸ‚ [Taken at the Great Swamp Wildlife Refuge in New Vernon, NJ.]

365 πŸ“·: 2017 301/365 – You know you’ve had a full day when there are 100 images on your camera at the end of it. It started in a beautiful park early this morning for a photo session with extended family. It was lovely. After lunch Eamonn suggested he and I take a walk through the Great Swamp. Also lovely. And late this afternoon was spent with the other side of the extended family, photographing low-flying planes before dinner and ending with a game night. Another lovely time. [Taken in my parents’ backyard.]

Sunday

365 πŸ“·: 2017 302/365 – I didn’t knit much last week, which is why these socks still are not finished. They’re not very good – too fat and not long enough. That won’t stop me from wearing them, though, and I know what to do better next time πŸ™‚

Monday

Instagram πŸ“±: Reading my latest library book on my lunch hour: Understanding Color in Photography by Bryan Peterson. Good read. [Taken at work.]

365 πŸ“·: 2017 303/365 – I’m going to continue improvising heavy socks with my fancy yarns until I get it right. This is the wool I picked up at Indie Untangled last week, and while I don’t find it quite as drool-worthy in a ball as I did in a hank, I think I’m still going to like knitting with it.

Tuesday

365 πŸ“·: 2017 304/365 – I’m not all that interested in Halloween, but it’s not too hard to throw on my favorite black dress and my "pumpkin spice" Everyday Cardigan so I at least *look* kinda festive πŸ˜‰

Instagram πŸ“±: He wanted to work on his novel at a table. I wanted to knit in a comfy chair. [Taken at Starbucks.]

Wednesday

365 πŸ“·: 2017 305/365 – I can’t believe it’s already November. I feel like 2017 just started! Anyway, it feels like November today. I had to wear the ol’ fingerless gloves.

Thursday

365 πŸ“·: 2017 306/365 – Good mail day! This pile of potential is going to be a relaxed-fit, cozy weekend pullover sweater πŸ™‚

Instagram πŸ“±: Balling up the yarn for a new sweater and watching Doc Martin. Happy Thursday!

Friday

Instagram πŸ“±: Friday afternoon feels so long sometimes. [Taken at work.]

365 πŸ“·: 2017 307/365 – Sometimes when I’m heading down this street, the scenery takes my breath away. The trees, the clouds, the hills in the distance… rarely do I have my camera with me, but today I went home to get it, and then came back to this spot to capture it. [Taken in Stirling, NJ.]

Thanks for taking a peek at this week’s photos! If you want to see this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on FlickrΒ and/or Instagram.

I may already have plans to blog about some of these things in greater detail over the coming week, but be sure to leave a comment if there’s something in particular you want to know about!

  1. Hi Lisa. I haven’t commented in awhile but still enjoy your posts. I really like your sweater yarn selection, can’t wait to see it. I am amazed at all you still do even though you are working (away from home) now.

    1. Thanks, Robin πŸ™‚
I’m very lucky that Neil does the housework now that he’s home all day. When I get home from work, I don’t have to worry about any of that stuff, and my time is my own. It’s a nice arrangement!
