Coffee and Keyboard

In honor of it being a Monday morning, I’ve got a back-to-work-related topic. I’ve been listening to music while I work lately. I like to listen to all kinds of mellow stuff while I work, but some days it’s hard to relegate it to the background. I find myself listening to the lyrics when I’m supposed to be waxing poetically about WordPress taxonomies or some such geekery 😉

Enter the wordless playlist:

Coffee and Keyboard from lclarke522 on 8tracks Radio.

I’ve assembled a collection of thirty-two instrumental songs in a variety of musical styles: mostly acoustic, some with world influences, others more new-agey.

I listened to it on Friday, and in the meantime wrote a whole article on the wonders of private cache vs. public cache, so you know it works.

Would you like to hear a little photography secret? The coffee cup on the playlist cover is actually empty.

GASP!

Yep. I just darkened the inside of the cup to make it look like it had dark coffee in it. I cheated.

I took and edited that photo entirely with my cell phone. It’s pretty impressive what you can do with mobile photography and assorted apps these days.

This was edited with a combination of Snapseed and A Color Story. I generally use Snapseed to do basic edits (improve brightness, contrast, white balance, etc.) and then use A Color Story for the creative filters. I did that here, and then I brought it back into Snapseed to add the words.

I’m having so much fun with those few apps, that I barely feel like opening up my laptop anymore and going through the whole Lightroom and Photoshop rigamarole!

Oh! and now you know my other dirty little secret: that lovely wooden table I’ve been using in my photos lately is really just a paper backdrop I bought on Etsy! (Oh, I am such a cheater…)

Anyway, please enjoy the music!

  1. I’ve got a playlist for writing/working too, although of course I’m using Spotify instead. Love the image!

    1. Making the cover image is half the fun for me!
Is your playlist public? I’m bound to get bored with my own eventually… 😀

  2. Lisa Lisa! You do remind me of my younger self trying all the new stuff! I still like it but not enough to figure it out. (Smile). Thank you for providing nice things for those of us that don’t.

    1. Feel free to live vicariously through me as much as you want! I’m going to take advantage of my love of learning for as long as I can 🙂

  3. […] in the Coffee and Keyboard series. I didn’t realize it was going to be a series when I made the first one, but then I got a little tired of hearing the same 32 songs coming out of my headphones at work, […]
