TWiP: Already August

This Week in Pictures (TWiP) at Polka Dot Cottage
I’m at Starbucks this morning, writing this post. It’s hard being a coffee lover in our house on the weekends. To be fair, though, it’s hard for Neil (being a smell-of-coffee hater) on those rare occasions I decide to brew the stuff at home anyway 😜.

I do try to be considerate, though. Most weekends I just make tea. Or, if it’s a nice day, I take all of my coffee-making paraphernalia into the back yard and brew it there for a quiet outdoor breakfast alone.

Other times, like today, I leave the house. I am more in the mood to be out among people today than I am to be lounging around in my pj’s at home.

This week, creatively-speaking, I made much progress on my sweater (just some seaming left to do!), and put my Mod Floral Mandala pattern to work in a dramatically different color scheme for some kitchen table mats. I had a bit of sewing on the schedule for this week, too, but it ended up falling by the wayside. I need to get on that soon, though, so that I can convert the sewing table into a polymer clay table. I’ve got ideas that I need to get out of me and into the clay!

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the photos I shot for Project 365 (one image each day for all of 2016), plus some snapshots I posted on Instagram during the previous week.

365 📷: 2016 212/366 – It’s been a super rainy Saturday afternoon. I actually had to go looking for an umbrella for my walk to the mailbox.

Sunday

365 📷: 2016 213/365 – I have barely moved from this spot today. Oh! the knitting I have accomplished. Not to mention the hours of Masterpiece Mystery…

Monday

365 📷: 2016 214/366 – Well, there goes a perfectly good pourover coffee cone (not to mention the pile of wet coffee grounds still in it).

Tuesday

365 📷: 2016 215/366 – I took the day off from knitting yesterday, and instead spent a little time with the crochet hook. I thought we could use a few table toppers in the kitchen. Both pieces used my Mod Floral Mandalas pattern. I’ll blog about them sometime next week and give you all of the details.

Wednesday

365 📷: 2016 216/366 – What a perfect night for some window sill candles. The humidity has gone away with the end of the heat wave, and we’ve having some beautiful breezy days and nights ♥

Thursday

365 📷: 2016 217/366 – Every Thursday I plan to go to the Madison farmer’s market, and every Thursday I forget, or I make other plans. I finally remembered today! I bought a bag of the best kettle corn ever, and this is all that is left of it. I think I’m just going to skip dinner 😜

Friday

365 📷: 2016 218/366 – Captured an image tonight of the elusive nephew #1 creature. He’s headed back to college tomorrow. [Taken at my parents’ house.]

  1. Almost done on the beautiful sweater! How did you enjoy that pattern? Loved mandala, candles, kettle corn, handsome nephew, and all.

    1. Thanks, Chloe. I just seamed the final seam on the sweater a moment ago. I’m very happy with it! I still need to weave in a bunch of ends, but other than that it’s done. I did enjoy knitting it. The simple cable and diamond stitch pattern were enough to keep it interesting. I didn’t care for the sewing part (I’m not very good at it) but aside from that, I enjoyed the pattern 😊

  2. Wow, look at your sweater!! That is exciting!! Gorgeous!!!
Your coffee looks great, although I am a little sad for you that the ant fell in lol…but I agree…it is lovely to spend a pretty morning outdoors. 🙂

    1. Yeah, that any was a real bummer, especially considering the ridiculous rigamarole coffee is around here on the weekend, trying not to offend anyone’s olfactory senses LOL!
