TWiP: Crochet Spring Break

This Week in Pictures (TWiP) at Polka Dot Cottage

I’m very late with this post today. I usually do it on Friday nights, but this week I had a date with my husband, and I didn’t think he’d want to be stood up on our 21st anniversary so that I could get a blog post out in time 😉

This week was plenty busy and plenty relaxing all at the same time. We had Easter with my in-laws, a walking/shopping trip through Princeton with my parents, the aforementioned anniversary, and in the downtime lots of crochet. I went a little overboard maybe with the in-progress crochet instagramming this week, so be prepared for a lot of pictures!

Speaning of crochet, I think I know how I’m going to spend the rest of my Saturday afternoon… I have a coffee-table-size mandala to complete!

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the photos I shot with my DSLR for Project 365 (one image each day for all of 2016), plus some phone snapshots I posted on Instagram during the previous week.

Ready? Cast your mind back to this time last week…

365: 2016 86/366 – The grass is starting to turn from brown to green, and I’ve seen a handful of new flowers in the yard today. It’s a great day for a new mp3 cd for the car!

Sunday

365: 2016 87/366 – As of Easter Sunday, I think Aidan has introduced the GeoGuess app to our entire family. This time when the game set him down somewhere in Ireland, it was handy to have a couple of experts in the room 🙂 [Taken with my phone at Neil’s parents’ house.]

Monday

365: 2016 88/366 – I’m a little embarassed to tell you how much of my Monday has been spent in this room, hanging out on the bed, sipping warm drinks and crocheting…

Tuesday

26078226612_666df6955f_b-flickr

365: 2016 89/366 – After yesterday, I knew I had to be at least a little bit productive. I vacuumed and broke down the enormous pile of cardboard boxes that were next to the front door. I feel better now!

Wednesday

365: 2016 90/366 – What a gorgeous day for a road trip! Aidan, my parents, and I spent it walking around downtown Princeton. [Taken in Princeton, NJ.]

365: 2016 91/366 – The Granny Square Sampler is complete, and now living in the back seat of the car where it belongs. Yay! Blogged: www.lisaclarke.net/2016/03/31/granny-square-sampler-compl…

Friday

365: 2016 92/366 – We spent an awful lot of our anniversary sitting in the car waiting for the heavy rain to pause enough for us to run into one place or another. We usually get Indian food, but we did that last week, so for this anniversary (our 21st) we went Mexican instead.[Taken with my phone in the Casa Maya parking lot.]

Thanks for taking a peek at this week’s photos! If you want to see this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Flickr and/or Instagram.

I may already have plans to blog about some of these things in greater detail over the coming week, but be sure to leave a comment if there’s something in particular you want to know about!

  1. Happy anniversary Lisa…

  2. Happy anniversary Lisa ! Love love love the huge ring. We share that passion as well as mandalas.

  3. Your posts are so beautiful and inspiring!! I really want to try to make some mandalas! Maybe after I am done making baby stuff. 🙂
Happy Anniversary!!! I hope it’s the best one ever!

    1. Oh, Happy (belated) Anniversary! Coffee never kicked in…

  4. Happy belated anniversary!

I LOVE your work! I have recently purchased a couple of your e-books ~ your instruction is so easy to follow! Thank you!

Would you be willing to tell us which brand of yarn and colors you are using for the Starry Night Mandala? It’s beautiful, can’t wait to see it finished!

    1. Hi, and thanks for your kind words!
The creamy white stripe that shows up 6 times is Knit Picks Dishie. As for the other stripes:
I stash-busted with that mandala, so I can’t be *entirely* sure (some labels are long gone) but I think the dark green, the green+white, and the brown are Sugar + Cream. The beige is Premier Home Cotton, and the red is Dishie.
I’m not even sure you can get some of those colors anymore, but I hope this helps anyway!

      1. Thank you Lisa!

        1. You’re welcome! Happy crocheting 🙂
