TWiP: books, swimming pools and knit sweaters

This Week in Pictures (TWiP) at Polka Dot Cottage

The title of this post pretty much covers it. And if I’m being honest, I’m actually pretty eager to get back to the knitting thing right now, so I’m going to keep this intro paragraph brief.

There. All done 😜

So, what is This Week in Pictures?

It’s a roundup of the photos I shot with my DSLR for Project 365 (one image each day for all of 2015), plus some phone snapshots I posted on Instagram during the previous week.

Ready? Cast your mind back to this time last week…

365: 2015 185/365 – We didn’t catch any fireworks tonight, unless you count the few that were peeking over the tops of trees, or the ones we saw on the Ocean City NJ webcam. But I did put on my blue + white shirt and my red nail polish for the occasion.

Sunday

365: 2015 186/365 – Good book, good coffee, good Sunday morning.

Monday

365: 2015 187/365 – A rare behind-the-scenes look at Clarkesworld Magazine World Headquarters, as Neil Clarke prepares his inventory for Readercon.

Tuesday

365: 2015 188/365 – Visiting my parents today. My original plan was to take a picture of the sky with just the very tips of the rooftops showing, but with this wide-angle lens, I really liked the way it looked when I included more details of the neighborhood.

Wednesday

365: 2015 189/365 – Hmm. I have the weekly pool shots, and it appears I’m also posting the weekly niece shots. I don’t think it bothers me too much that I am becoming predictable this summer 🙂

Thursday

365: 2015 190/365 – Thursday night, hotel pool, self timer 🙂

Friday

365: 2015 191/365 – Weekends like this, where we follow Neil to a convention, we go places in the mornings and the evenings, but the afternoons are all about quietly doing whatever feeds our souls. Today, that has been knitting. And let me tell you, I just love making tiny knits like this! In less than 24 hours, I’m more than half finished with this sweater. It would take me ten times as long to get this far with an adult size!

Thanks for taking a peek at this week’s photos! If you want to see this stuff as it happens, please feel free to follow me on Flickr.

I may already have plans to blog about some of these things in greater detail over the coming week, but be sure to leave a comment if there’s something in particular you want to know about!

  1. OOO I love your Kina, do you? Great color. Always wanted to make that one.

    1. I have to say, I’m feeling kind of iffy about it! It really stretched out with blocking, so it’s much longer than I expected, and the sleeves are kind of wide. I feel like I should have made a smaller size.

Still, I am in a hotel room. I haven’t tried it on with any of the right clothes underneath it. I am hoping when I get back to all of my things at home, I’ll find just the right way to wear it and I will be happy 🙂

  2. Such great happenings! Your Kina is beautiful. The hedgehog fabric is making me swoon. 🙂

    1. Thanks! Isn’t that hedgehog fabric the greatest? I hope it translates well into be a little dress 🙂
