Almost there

Neil has been away since early Thursday morning (Clarkesworld won another Hugo award last night!) and when he returns later today, he’s likely to find everything exactly as it was when he left. Everything, that is, except my Mod Floral Blanket. We have spent a few days of this weekend out visiting, but when we’ve been home, I’ve done precious little other than crochet.

In fact, I am planning on spending much of today doing the same thing. I’m in the home stretch on this project, and I am so eager to write up the instructions and share them with you, that I can’t seem to concentrate on much of anything else. Besides, it’s a weekend and I’ve been single-parenting, and hey! if I want to spend every last second with a crochet hook in hand, I’m going to, darn it!

I have to admit, I am feeling a bit conflicted about the border design. I thought I had made up my mind, and now I’m not so sure.  Instead of finishing today, I may end up auditioning a few more border ideas…

So here’s a peek at what I’ve been doing this weekend, courtesy of my InstaFlick stream. (I’d show you properly-edited photos, but see above re: doing nothing but crochet this weekend).

That’s it for the sneak-peaking, now 🙂

This is the last I am going to show you of this project until it’s complete and I’ve had a chance to photograph it properly – hopefully later this week!

  1. I love it! It looks so cheerful! 🙂

    1. Thank you – “cheerful” is exactly what I was going for!

  2. Sounds like the perfect weekend 🙂

    1. Yes, I would have to say it ranks right up there, especially when the kids have been busy working on their own projects, too.

  3. Multi yarn border worked at the same time? What a fantastic idea! I can’t wait to see the finished blanket.

    1. Actually, that was just when I was testing it out and trying ideas. I think I would probably end up making a tangled mess if I tried to work a whole border that way 😉

  4. I love the border you’ve shown! I can’t imagine anything better!

    1. A few other people said the same thing, so I changed my mind again and went back to that 🙂

  5. I came to ask about working different colors of the border at the same time, too! Did you end up loving that or hating it? At least it looks pretty. 🙂

    1. I didn’t actually do the whole thing that way. It was just a test. I tried a few designs out on the corners just to see what I liked before I committed to an entire border. Once I knew what I wanted, I undid all of the partial stuff and went all the way around. I think it would have been a tangled mess trying to do all of the rows at once – all those “live” balls of yarn to juggle!
