Making lists

At this time of year, I make lists. There’s the Gift List, which is sort of my master list. It includes everyone I want to give a gift to, a list of what I want to give them, and a budget for that giving. Then there’s the To-Make List, which is just like it sounds. It’s the list of things I want to sew, knit, crochet, or otherwise craft myself. And lastly, on years where I am hosting the festivities (like this year), the Menu List. That one includes all of the food I want to serve.

These lists are important to my sanity, and usually by December 19th, I have gotten my act together enough to write them out. Usually.

This year, before I take the necessary steps to remaining sane, I would like to present a new list. I call it the Things Only a Crazy Person Does the Week Before Christmas List:

  • Indulge a whim to make up a new cabled headband design that nobody needs, and start knitting it.
  • Finish knitting said headband, all the while stopping to write out the pattern and take photos of the process.
  • Resurrect Project::Granny Square
  • Devise a way to continue sharing the occasional photo in an Instagram manner without actually using Instagram (just in case I want to follow the mass exodus that has begun.

That’s it for now, but give me a few more days, and I’m sure there will be more 🙂

How about you? In denial much?

  1. Well I did decide to try to work out a new hat design.. it failed so far.. but hey I will figure it out! I love the cabled headband! Need someone to eyeball the pattern? Would love to help! Since I haven’t got much to do this week! (a contract knitter can’t knit if the client doesn’t send the yarn!)

    1. Thanks for the offer, I would love that! But, it’s not really in a send-able format. It’s written out on a legal pad and not typed up. Thanks anyway 🙂

  2. Yeah, lists really keep me sane too, I’m at that point in my life where I’m starting to forget things too easily 😉

    1. Yeah, and the funny thing for me is that sometimes an electronic list isn’t enough to make me feel better. Spreadsheets are great and all, but sometimes I need the good old pencil and paper thing to really get my thoughts out there properly.

  3. You knit beautifully…is that the right spelling?? 🙂

Who cares…..MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Sit back and relax…don’t stress.

    1. Thanks, Janie, and yes that’s the correct spelling 🙂
      Merry Christmas to you, too!

  4. So…how are you liking your instagram substitutes and what you using thus far? I haven’t had a moment to actually read the instagram policies for myself (but I will after Christmas) to decide if I’m leaving or not. Not looking forward to deleting my account.

    1. I am trying to use flickr more. I used to be on there constantly. Their android app doesn’t work on tablets (boo!) but I have a work-around. I have been using Pixl-o-Matic to add fun instagram-like filters, and then emailing them to my flickr email address. It automatically posts to flickr and twitter that way. So far, so good.

  5. That is gorgeous and what a nice way to have some control over the chaos 😉 Should you every have time, it would be crazy popular on Knitty I bet.

    1. I do hope to write up a nice-looking pattern when I have a few moments to breathe 🙂

  6. […] on, and this is no exception. I came up with this idea and made the first prototype when I was supposed to be getting my house ready for Christmas company. So, it’s been a while in the […]
