Ten days. That’s how long we were without power. And if not for the support of our families, who took us in for a few days at a time, I’d probably be really, really cranky right about now. It’s good to have sweet parents who want to help us. We are lucky, and we know it.
So, three days at home, three days with my family, another night back home, and three nights with Neil’s family. Two weeks without school (the boys are referring to it as a 16-day weekend). Trees stretched out across the lawn. Cooking meals in the fireplace. Recharging cell phones at town hall. Borrowing a neighbor’s wi-fi signal to get news. Snow. Gas rationing. Coffee. Game night. Taking pictures…
It’s been an adventure.
But today we are home, and the lights are on. And the phone is working. And the thermostat is back where it belongs. Oh, it is so nice to be home. Thank you, electric company crews from other states who came to our rescue (I saw Ohio, Michigan, and Mississippi). Thank you!
P.S. It’s going to take me a little while to get back into the swing of things around here, so please bear with me a little bit longer if you are waiting for a hook order – thanks!
