The second shoe drops
Thank you for your encouraging comments on my last post. We arrived back home yesterday, and Neil’s healing process is continuing. There are certainly going to be lifestyle changes coming our way, and I think maybe that will make for some interesting things to talk about here. Some of you could probably teach me a lot.
That second shoe I mentioned, though? Another ER trip.
We were home less than 9 hours when Neil developed abdominal pain. Not wanting to take any chances, we found ourselves ER-bound at 2am. Four hours later, I am sitting here at his bedside, having had no sleep whatsoever. I’m quite tired, but at least I don’t have a kidney stone. Which is what Neil has.
Poor guy. A heart attack and a kidney stone a week apart from each other? I don’t envy him.
The most recent word is that the stone is really big and they want to admit him to the hospital. So here we go again. I’m glad it’s not his heart this time, and I hope once this ordeal is over, he can relax and heal at home and in peace!
(I’m glad I brought my tablet, and that the hospital has free wi-fi, but I would probably give them up for a chance to sleep a few hours. *yawn*)

Oh man! Hang in there!
Oh no, my dad went through that earlier this year. It was lucky though because if he hadn’t gone in for the kidney stone they wouldn’t have discovered his kidney cancer and been able to catch it early on. I’m so thankful for that darn kidney stone!
Hope your husband is feeling better and you guys stay out of ERs for awhile!

Wow, that’s terrible! I’m so sorry to hear about that! I can’t believe Neil’s rotten luck. Would you pass my best wishes on to Neil – and good luck to you and the kids.
Oh, man! I’m so sorry to hear that. My husband had kidney stones once and was in unbearable pain (we spent Christmas eve and into the early morning hours in the ER for that) . I hope Neil’s on the mend soon and that you get some sleep!

OK, tell Neil that you’ve gone along with the joke up till now, but you’re getting tired of this. Seriously, I hope he’s feeling better and that you can catch up on your sleep.

Oh, how awful! You all must have been so scared!
Do they have that terrible sign on the wall that asks you to identify the level of pain on a scale of 1-10? Does it have that misprint where 10 says “Worse pain possible”? If worse pain is possible, then where is number 11 that says *worst* pain possible.
I hate our local hospital and its terrible signage so much. I hope your room is grammatically correct and comfortable in every other way, too.
Man you must be exhausted! Praying for a full recovery and your life to return to normal!

Well, of all the possible second shoes to drop, kidney stones are relatively benign tho incredibly painful. It’s kind of scary to hear it’s so big they’re keeping him. Are they going to laser-blast it to make it smaller so he can pass it? When I had mine, the guys in the ambulance kept saying, “Are you SURE you’re not pregnant?” and I was yelling, “Yes I’m sure, you dolt, I’ve been post-menopausal for 5 years!” And 2 minutes later he’d ask me again. Bet Neil didn’t have to deal with THAT baloney LOL. NEIL – GET BETTER SOON!!!! Lisa, get some rest!
BTW, that “get better soon” was said in my drill sergeant voice just so Neil knows I mean it.
