Whispers

365 day 316 - Thinking creative thoughts

Shhhh… I dare not say this too loudly, lest I jinx things, but I think I may be on the verge of getting my claythings out again.

I may be ready to bring my vision of a “granny square cane” to life.  And then turn it into crochet hook handles. Or covered pens. Or shawl pins.  Maybe all three.

Perhaps I’ll re-open the shop for a few days sometime soon, and have a pre-Christmas sale.

But keep it under your hat for now, as the muse is as fickle as my workspace is messy, and the 48 little packages of Premo I bought today would really like the opportunity to become something special, very very soon.

  1. I promise not to tell… too many people.

I think making some directly related to your current obsession things is the way to go. Not that the button fetish was ever that far off.

    1. I think so, too. Otherwise, it’s just forcing things, and that rarely works, in my experience. And, ooh, buttons! I should make a few of those, too, for good measure 🙂

  2. How do you get pen covers on to the pens after or do you bake them on? Always wondered.

    1. I’m not sure what you mean…

If you are asking how I get the pen cap on after the pen has been covered in clay, well, I don’t. I leave it without a cap.

If you are asking how the clay gets onto the pen, well, I wrap it around the pen while raw, and then bake the whole thing. You have to take the ink cartridge out before baking, though, and you have to make sure the type of pen you are using can handle the baking temperature. Bic Stick work nicely.

      Does that answer your question?

    1. Apparently those little arrows don’t like to show the words inside.

Dreaming of a new crochet hook adorned with clay granny squares.

      😉

      1. I will do my best to make your dream a reality, even if it means letting the laundry sit for another day, or allowing the dishes to fester in the sink.

See how dedicated I am, that I would forgo housework in order to slave over the clay table? 😉

  3. about time you got the clay back out. I can’t wait to see your creations!

    1. Tell me about it. Last claything I made was in January! Unless you count the hour I spent – unsuccessfully – trying to make decent buttons for a new sweater a month or two ago. And I don’t 😉

  4. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! I know all about fickled muses!

  5. Can’t wait to see them. Great idea.
