I’m glad to hear the pattern worked out for you! As for the 2-inches-too-long thing, I usually do the opposite and stop too soon! I wish I could help with the pom pom, but I just use a pom pom maker I bought online and follow the directions that came with it.

I made this hat from your pattern on the yellow knifty knitter, and it look great! (except for the fact that I knit two inches too long, and it looks like a ski mask with a brim) my problem right now is makin the pom pom. I keep trying, but it never comes out right.

I just saw this post today, and would be willing to make this toque. I made one from my brother last christmas and he tells me he wears in when he hikes on Vancouver Island (he lives there) even now! I also do a variation of it with no pompom and have an etsy shop which has a link on my blog. email for any other info.
