Spring Wrap Skirt

Happy Spring! The end of last week was a beautiful preview of things to come around here – seventy degrees, breezy, and lovely.  It’s the kind of weather that inspires a girl to finally make good on her promise to crank out a new skirt.  It’s the kind of weather that makes one want to share the happy.

I’m not sure what the weather is like today where you are, but here it is nothing like last week.  We had a little bit of snow yesterday, and four-to-eight inches of the white stuff are forecast for tomorrow.  Right this second, though, I am choosing not to be in cold, wet New Jersey.  Instead I am at the Polka Dot Cottage where the sun is always shining, the flowers are always growing, and the temperature is always perfect for wearing a custom-fit wrap skirt.

And so “sharing the happy” is the order of the day.  This skirt is the newest pattern in the Download Shop.  If you can take your measurements and do a little simple math with them, and if you are reasonably comfortable with your sewing machine, this project should be a snap.  There are no zippers or buttons involved, no tricky terminology to trip you up.  And the great thing about a wrap skirt made to fit your particular curves, is that it is so flattering!  The fit is like a tailored zip skirt, but more forgiving, if you were to lose or gain a pound here or there.

  1. So sad! 🙁 I tried to download the pattern (because I Love Love LOVE IT!) and it tells me that the link has no downloadable content 🙁

That fabric is delicious, by the way!

    1. That’s what I get for trying to rush this to post before I ran off for a meeting this morning! So sorry about that – I fixed the problem and you should be able to try again!

P.S. The fabric is a favorite of mine – Bleeker Street by Michele D’Amore

      1. Oh I don’t know what that’s like at ALL! (yeah, right! hehe)

Thanks so much for sharing, I just got the perfect little china doll shoes to wear with a skirt like this!!

  2. Lisa~
I don’t wear skirts, but this one has a strange appeal to me. I’m going to give it a shot! However, my e~mail back from the download page goes thusly:

    Dear Kat
    Below is your download link:
    – This product does not have any downloadable content
    Thank You

    I’ll try again later…

    1. I’m sorry – my bad! I fixed the problem and you should be able to try again. Hope you like it!

      1. It worked! Can’t wait to try this out!!

  3. Very pretty! This may be the kick I need to dust off my sewing machine.

    1. Oh, I hope so! I find these skirts so addicting… I’m embarrassed to tell you how many I’ve made at this point!

  4. I just downloaded your pattern and CANNOT WAIT to make it!! I’ve been wanting some new spring/summer skirts but couldn’t find a pattern I wanted to use (I’ve only made two other pieces of clothing that I’m not too proud of) but this looks so simple I know I can make this one! Thank you for offering it! 🙂

  5. I just made this skirt today with a fun Easter-y/spring floral print and it is PERFECT. I am SO happy with the result and look forward to putting together a cute Easter outfit with it. Thanks so much for sharing this cute and easy project! It’s just what I was looking for (and I don’t seem to find just what I’m looking for very often). 🙂

    1. I am so happy to hear that! Thanks for dropping by to let me know 🙂 Happy Easter!

  6. Drat! I so wanted to make this little skirt, but the download link was broken and the email for the current freebie didn’t contain a link.

    1. Sorry about that. I know there is a problem with the freebie link – I haven’t gotten around to fixing it yet, but if you let me know whether you want the standard or hd size, I can email you a link that will work.

As far as the skirt goes, you might want to try again. I haven’t heard any other complaints about that one not working, and someone did actually buy the pattern in the last few days. Let me know if you still have problems with the skirt pattern, and I’ll see if I can get it to you another way!

      1. No worries – is the skirt pattern scaled for tall plus sizes?
