Friday Photo Love, Month of Gratitude Week 2

Twelve days in, and I feel my enthusiasm starting to fizzle.  Maybe a month is too much?  It’s not that I am not thankful for the many wonderful things in my life, it’s just that I’m not really feeling like photographing them.  Maybe it’s the neck ache talking – I haven’t been sleeping well, waking up every few hours sore and uncomfortable.  Whatever it is, I’m going to keep plugging away at it anyway.  I’m starting to think that the times we least want to think about our blessings are probably the times we most need to do so.

So the last week my gratitude has been found in places such as books, pain medication, antibiotics for Boring Office Guy’s sinus infection (poor kid), firewood, knitting projects, mix cd’s and freedom.  That’s a nice little collection of the trivial and not-so-trivial, I’d say.

I’ve been looking through the Month of Gratitude Flickr Pool, and while it’s not easy to pick just one to show you, I’m going to do it anyway.

“Someone to Play Games With” by MossyOwls is one of those photos were you can imagine what else is there outside of the frame – I think it’s a chilly afternoon. They’re sitting on the floor, game board on the coffee table, fireplace roaring off to the side, and mugs of hot chocolate on the table next to the game. Of course, it could be none of those things, but I like that the little glimpse this photo gives invites me to imagine more.

There have been a decent number of new visitors here lately, between the Month of Gratitude project, the custom-fit coffee cozy tutorial, and the Monkees hats.  If you’re someone just dropping by for the first time, welcome!  I hope you’ll stick around a while and join in the conversation!  (P.S. you can follow Polka Dot Cottage on Facebook too, if you like.)

And if you’re someone who’s been spreading the word about things you find here, thank you!  You may notice that I try to return the favor down in the “building community” section of the sidebar.  If you post about my blog, and IceRocket blog search notices it, then your post is automatically listed there.  With my gratitude.  (I’ll need to think of a clever way to photograph that!)

Don't worry, we won't bother you more than once or twice a month!

  1. I like your imagined setting better than the real thing– especially the part about the fireplace. (g)

Thanks for selecting my photo! :o) This Month of Gratitude challenge was a great idea!

  2. I am grateful for my family, and my extended family. I am most thankful for is my daughter. She is my blessed angel. I was told at an early age that I could not concieve. So I prayed and dreamed about having a baby. I did this for a long time, and was blessed with a good pregnancy and birth of a baby girl. I am truly blessed.

    1. That is wonderful! Thanks for sharing 🙂
