Gigantic swampy earrings

New earrings

Hey, remember when this used to be a polymer clay blog?  Well, if you’ve been nostalgic for those days, maybe you’ll like what I have to show you tonight. This weekend I took a class with Ellen Marshall in Philadelphia.  Ellen is the queen of surface treatments.  Whereas most of my own claywork involves the [...]

I heart Color Catchers

All fixed!

Thank you Sarah (and everyone who seconded her suggestion yesterday) for mentioning Color Catchers.  They did the trick!  I washed the quilt twice, and each time got up a little more pink.  There are still a few seams that have a tiny bit of dye in the stitches, but you really have to go looking [...]

Pink.

12quilt1

I’ve been working on-and-off for the last few weeks on a quilt for the latest Craft Hope project.  About three days ago, I had pretty much lost my enthusiasm for hand-sewing the binding, but I plugged away anyway, knowing it was for a good cause, and I finally finished it last night. The Space themed [...]

Unplugged but not unhinged

25/365

Recently I’ve been doing something nearly unheard-of for me.  I’ve been shutting down my laptop around 8pm and enjoying the rest of the evening unplugged. Turning on the computer is one of the first things I do in the morning, and until recently, turning it off has been one of the last things I do [...]

What else is Saturday morning for?

24/365

If not mis-matched pajamas, Mommy-made wrist-warmers, and Wii? My 2-at-a-time experiment went well – I think it was probably a smart idea not to complicate the process of learning to work two items together by also trying to learn how to make socks at the same time.  At least for a newbie like me.  I [...]

Meet my new mail-order friends

05heads

They’re here to help me sell hats and such, next time I have a craft show.  I think they need names, though.  Any ideas?

If loving Malabrigo is wrong, I don’t want to be right

Two at a time

I’ve been eager to give the technique described in 2-at-a-time Socks a try.  Nevermind that I’ve never used a circular needle.  Nevermind that it’s November and I have 101 other places my creative energy should be channeled.  Nevermind that socks are not easy.  Nevermind all that. Practical matters somehow always end up pushed aside when [...]

Toast for Granny

Granny

So I made another pair of Toast.  This is the style without the thumbs – they’re just plain, straight tubes of knit stitch, and about as simple as it gets.  In theory anyway. Ever get the idea that some projects are just doomed from the start? First I cast on too few stitches.  Then too [...]

Do you hear R.E.M. playing?

I spent much of the mid-nineties...

I found these glasses yesterday.  I used to collect them in the mid-nineties.  I thought I had thrown them away a few years ago, but I was happy to see they’re still around. Too bad I no longer have the aqua ’93 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme to go with them.  Gosh, I loved that car.
