Polka Dot Cottage: One for me, seven for you

One for me, seven for you

Ok, technically, the one that’s for me isn’t even for me to keep – it’s for my MIL, and it’s part of her birthday gift.

I went back to my trusty little blue Knifty Knitter loom this week and made my very favorite neckwarmer pattern: Cashmere Neckwarmer [the only link I can find is to Ravelry].  It’s a quick knit – two nights in front of the TV, tops.  I like to use Malabrigo Chunky, and it comes out so very soft (and doesn’t break the bank like cashmere would).  Remember the one I made myself last year?  It’s still in heavy cold-weather rotation around here; in fact, I wore it this morning.

The pattern is written for size 13 needles (you know, just in case you know your way around a pair of needles and think you’d like to give it a try), but I had translated it to loom-speak last winter, and I still like to make it that way.

And as for the button… Ah, yes, the button.  It’s decorated in the textured pastel technique Ellen Marshall taught me a few days ago. I figured out a way to make the texture “pop” a bit, and I’m very pleased with the look.

I made three of this two-inch size, and five in my standard 1.25-inch size.  Except for the one that I used on the neckwarmer, the rest are yours for the taking.  And be aware that I am not going to be able to make this exact color scheme again.  If you like it, now is the time to grab it.

Ok.  I could sit here all morning talking about yarn and buttons, but I probably shouldn’t…  Have a happy Thursday!
