Polka Dot Cottage: Sticks, part two

Sticks, part two

First of many pairs

I survived the experience of knitting in the round with DPNs, and I have a pair of Toasty fingerless gloves to show for it.  Thanks for all of the encouragement this weekend (and the expressions of disbelief – I got a nice laugh out of some of those comments.)

The second glove looks a lot nicer to me than the first glove, which means that I am capable of learning.  (Always nice to find evidence to that effect.)

First of many pairs

The first of the pair has columns that are knit noticeably looser where one needle ended and another began, and also the thumb join is pretty messy.  I had a little trouble with the thumb the first time, mostly because of the way I held the needles.  Once I fixed that, the thumbs made so much more sense.

I’m really pleased with these as a first attempt, but I know that there are still improvements to be made.

Why do they always find me when I'm taking project pictures? Why do they always find me when I'm taking project pictures? Give me the head of Neil Clarke on a platter

In that spirit, there will be more Toasty.  I’m thinking red tweed.  I’m thinking a nice little pile of Toasty, and I’m thinking Christmas gifts.  Additionally, I’m thinking I really need to silence the self-timer on my camera – all of the weirdos come running to “help” when they hear that beeping…
