A Month of Hands: 8/31 :: Going Places

Ever have one of those days where you are in constant motion, going here, going there, attending to this and doing that, and when the kids are in bed, and you finally get a chance to sit down and take a look at your to-do list, you find that you haven’t made quite the dent you had hoped?  Usually when that happens to me, I freak out for a few minutes and then blow off the rest of the list until tomorrow.

I wish I could have done that today, but everything on my list is a “time waits for no one” kind of thing, and needs to be dealt with TO-night.  Around 10pm, I finally gave in to some extent and realized I wasn’t going to get orders packed and shipped.  I hate to disappoint anyone, but I was beginning to feel my sanity slip and something had to give.  Having made the decision to let that one thing go, I felt much better.

And now, I have brewed myself a cup of Zen tea, and spent 15 minutes processing the couple of photos I took today.  (So glad I didn’t capture the image of the century or anything, since I apparently had my camera set accidentally to a 640×480 resolution.  A quality print at that size would fit nicely on the head of a pin.)

I feel much more relaxed, but there is still much to do before I sleep.  Let me just leave you with a quick picture of my new shirt:

New shirt

I made this last night on a whim, out of a fabric remnant I picked up for $2 at the thrift shop.  It screamed at me to be made into a shirt – better yet, a Built By Wendy, Simplicity 3835 shirt, which is the only kind I can do with my eyes closed and one hand tied behind my back.

This fabric reminds me of the shirts you used to find in those hippiesque stores in the 90′s – you know, the shops that sold hemp sweatshirts, batik dresses and incense?  I used to like those places…

Anyway, happy fabric, relaxing tea, thoughts of strawberry incense.  And just a few more things to check off of my list before I hit the hay.
