Sticky, rainy, nerdy days

Lily

So it’s been a very sticky, very rainy, very nerdy couple of days over here at Polka Dot headquarters. The weather has cooled off considerably with the rain, but it’s hard to tell with all of this humidity hanging around. My feet stick to the floor, and my hands to the banisters, but it seems silly to turn on the air conditioner, since it’s barely above 70 degrees. So, sticky it is for a while. It’s to be expected, given that it’s mid-summer and all!

If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you didn’t have a problem getting to the blog today. And that’s good, considering I did my best to break the darn thing this morning. As I mentioned previously, I’m in the midst of re-arranging my site(s), and step one was to move the blog from the old location at http://www.polkadotcreations.com/blog to the new one: https://www.lisaclarke.net. I’ve done my best to make sure that all of the old links are redirected to the new address, but it would still be prudent to change your bookmarks, and/or subscribe to the feed at its new location.

I have some business to attend to today, but sometime this week, I’ll

  • upgrade blog to latest version of WordPress
  • implement new design I’ve been working on
  • spend hours upon hours tweaking and fiddling until all of the links and sidebars look just like I want them

The blog may be unavailable here and there while I’m working on these things. Or, if it’s available, it may be kind of messed-up 😀

Once I’m done messing with the blog, I’ll be messing with some other parts of my site in my ongoing quest for world domination a streamlined web presence. But first, Real Life ™ beckons. There’s lunch to be made and a class to prepare for – my first real one ever. I’m a wee bit nervous.

  1. yeah it was messed up this morning when I mosey’d bye. it took me to the root directory. This is way much better 😀

  2. What, no world domination? Awwww, c’mon Lisa. You’re raising boys. World domination should be a pinch after that.

    *grin*

  3. My best friend Dee (at reddirtramblings.com) and I were just talking this morning on our daily commute (to my office job) about the work of the blogger. She blogs obviously, and I am merely an observer, but she patiently describes the business of keeping up with the newest in blog land. I am in awe of all that the best bloggers put into their sites to keep it interesting. Like Dee, your writing is fresh, real and quirky. I can’t wait to see your new stuff!!!

Heh, you’ve got a point there. Maybe I’ll keep “world domination” on the to-do list. You never know, right? 😀

Thanks, Aimee, that’s really nice of you to say! Yes, it can be work, especially when you’re messing around with setting everything up, but generally it’s relatively effortless. For me, anyway. It’s time consuming, though. It sometimes takes me an hour or more to write a post, insert all of the images and links, etc. I enjoy the time I spend blogging, but sometimes it cuts in on time I’m supposed to be spending on other things!
