New napkins

But it’s about eight-and-a-half months too late… Last October I bought prints from Moda’s Christmas Past collection to make the above napkins. I wanted something with a fun, retro feel, and this collection was about as close as I could come. I like it well enough, and would have just lived with it, if not for THIS:

Fabric lust

Be still my beating heart. It’s everything I want in a Christmas napkin. It’s retro, it’s fun, it’s kitschy, it’s colorful! If I had a fat quarter set of this collection, I could make 24 of the most perfect Christmas napkins ever assembled. I’d do it in a heartbeat, too, except for a few things:

  1. I can’t find a reasonably-priced fat quarter collection anywhere on the internet at the moment
  2. I already have a set of Christmas napkins, albeit a set that will now make me weep softly every time I use it to dab errant crumbs from my lips – I may be wiping my face with Christmas Past, but I’ll be fantasizing about Mackenzie Christmas the whole time. *sniffle*

You think there is a market for gently-used handmade cloth napkins out there? It’s entirely possible if I sell all of the Christmas Past napkins, the two table runners, the apron and any fabric I have left from that collection, I would be able to afford a fat quarter pack of Mackenzie Christmas, plus some extra yardage for new table runners and an apron…

Fabric lust

It sounds so silly, but I truly am jazzed about this fabric. It was designed by Anna Griffin, who also is the creative genius behind Elsie’s Kitchen. Mackenzie Christmas could be for my holidays what Elsie’s Kitchen is for my summer – quintessential seasonal kitchen decor!

Yes, I really am going loopy over napkin fabric. *sigh* I tell you, if a fat quarter collection magically appears online somewhere, I am totally putting my other Christmas linens up for sale. (Clearly these are the ramblings of a crazy person.  Feel free to treat them as such.)
