Psst! Wanna buy a purse?

New handbag

With a title like that, I feel as if I should be in a dark alley and wearing a trench coat 😀

New handbag

I finished another handbag today, and I am planning on listing it in my Etsy shop, but I wanted to give first crack at it to some of you who have mentioned to me that you’d like one.

New handbag

The nitty-gritty:

  • Features three prints from Amy Butler’s Lotus collection in the Damask Rose colorway
  • Includes a snap closure, hidden behind a big polymer clay button which I made specifically to coordinate with this fabric
  • Measures 12 inches wide at the top, tapering to 8 inches at the bottom
  • Is 8 inches tall and 4 inches deep
  • Handles are 20 inches making for a 9-inch drop
  • Includes a divided pocket on the inside, perfect size for a tube of lipstick and a small cell phone
  • Sturdy, flat bottom means it will stand up on its own
  • $32 plus $6 shipping (Priority) or $4 shipping (First Class)

New handbag

I think that’s it. If any of you would like it, drop me a line and it’s yours. First come first served. I will put it in my Etsy shop this weekend if I don’t get any nibbles here. Sold! (Thanks, Michele.)

New handbagBy the way, If these aren’t really your colors or patterns, I do have another one cut out and ready to go that I just finished. The fabrics are from Denyse Schmidt’s Flea Market Fancy collection. The measurement are all the same, except that it’s an inch wider. This is it, to the left, and there are more images at flickr.

I have plans to make two more in the Lotus Damask Rose greens and the new Erin McMorris Park Slope fabric in Navy, Lime and a bit of Fuchsia, but I haven’t started on them yet. I’ll need to start completely from scratch, including making the coordinating buttons, so they are going to take me longer.

Happy Friday!

  1. Wow! Those are some of my fav Amy Butler fabrics. I’m tempted, quite tempted.

    1. I just love the lacework pattern. If the pink stripes appealed to me more, I’d be tempted to keep it myself 😀

  2. thats sweet Lisa! Now if iwas in purples I might be tempted….and I don’t even carry a purse.

    1. Yeah, I’m afraid I don’t have much fabric around here of the purple persuasion. I’m still trying to figure out where all of this PINK came from. I really only like pink as an accent color and yet, here it is all over the place. I’m getting rid of it little by little 😀

  3. It’s beautiful! Well done!

    1. Thanks, and you were right – it wasn’t as scary as it looked 🙂

  4. hmmm. which ones from the Lotus Damask Rose greens and flea market fancy? I do need a new bag…

    1. I finished the flea market fancy one tonight and edited the post so you can see it. The Amy Butler one is going to be in these prints:

green / oxford stripe ab-22 for the base and handles
sage / lacework ab-19 or lime / star paisleyab-12 for the body
green / wall flower ab-17 for the lining

  5. What great colors!! What pattern are you using? If you dont mine me asking. 🙂 I got some new fabric (check out my blog) and want to make a bag. Im always nervous that I will mess it up! Have a Good One! Kashoan

    1. Actually, I’m not using a pattern… patterns scare me, LOL! I just made this up mixing and matching some techniques I learned from various books & internet tutorials. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

  6. Pick me! Pick me!

    1. Consider yourself picked 🙂 Thanks!

  7. That is too funny…patterns make me so nervous! Keep up the great work!

  8. If the

green / oxford stripe ab-22 for the base and handles sage / lacework ab-19 or lime / star paisleyab-12 for the body green / wall flower ab-17 for the lining

    isn’t taken, I would LOVE IT…

    let me know!
    Sarah

  9. I like the body of the lacework ab-19 and lining of the wall flower… although the star paisley is beautiful…

not that i’m excited by the idea of this bag or anything…

    1. You got it! The fabrics aren’t pre-washed yet, and I haven’t made any canes to coordinate with them for button-making either, but I’ll try to make that happen this week so I can get the bag done quickly! And I agree with you about the lacework vs. star paisley. I am going to go with that one. Thanks!

  10. crap. I missed it! Beautiful bags! Got any fabrics of the blue and green persuasion?
